My first year in LA
In March 2011, I came out to visit friends in Los Angeles, CA and for the first time, really saw myself living in this city. I knew eventually I would leave NYC, but I never knew when. Well, I started making plans and telling people and before I knew it, I was really committing myself to this move.
All week long, I have been recapping highlights of my #CosmoXCountry journey through my Mobli videos. It’s been quite an exciting experience to say the least and I am so thrilled I make this journey and started this new chapter in my life.
The reason behind the move was simple, if I wanted to truly be an actor, I had to get out of my 9-5 desk job and shake of my status quo. Simple, right? I also didn’t want to live with any regrets, where I would wake up twenty years from now and wonder, “what if I had moved to LA?” and never quite know… Well, if I had never moved to LA… I would have never experienced this past year…
A year where I could perform on stage, twice, making my LA stage debut in a world premiere play and in John Guare’s Six Degrees of Separation… I became a regular cast member on a new web series “Up All Night with Kurt Magnum” and made appearances in two others… I joined a theater company where I’ve surrounded myself with incredible talent… I joined a church where I surround myself with positive and passionate people who are truly accepting and loving followers of Christ. I’ve created new and everlasting friendships while strengthing those that already existed. I signed with an agency both theatrically and commercially. I participated in a hilarious comedy experience called Mortified both in LA and in New York!
I am sure I’m missing memorable moments, but overall, my first year in LA was definitely worth uprooting my life and transplanting it into this amazing city. Plus, I’ve got a little more tan in the process! Here’s to an even more amazing second year!
